In such a situation, people keep waiting for their salary to increase. Meanwhile, a state in the country has implemented an increase in Dearness Allowance (DA). This state is Himachal Pradesh. The Himachal Pradesh government has implemented an increase in the Dearness Allowance (DA) for the employees and ex-employees of the state government.

DA hike

This decision has come after the restoration of the old pension scheme in the state. The DA hike was announced by Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu during the state-level function on Himachal Day on April 15 and a notification in this regard has also been issued by the state government. The increase in DA will benefit more than 3 lakh people, including 2.15 lakh employees and 90,000 retired employees.

Himachal Pradesh

Earlier, the employees and retired people of Himachal Pradesh government used to get dearness allowance at the rate of 31 percent. Eligible employees and pensioners will start getting benefits at the increased rate of 34 per cent. They will also be given compensation according to the arrears. The state government has estimated that this decision will increase the burden of Rs 500 crore on the state exchequer.

Cash payment

The Chief Secretary of the state has also told in a notice that the allowance earned after April 2023 will be paid in cash, the arrears from January 2022 to March 31, 2023 will be paid in the General Provident Fund account. After January 1, 2022, retired employees will get their dearness allowance in cash.
