Cyclone Nisarga: Cyclone ‘Nisarg’ may create havoc in Maharashtra and Gujarat; Know when and where the storm will hit

New Delhi, Agencies. The cyclone will start in the next two days from a low pressure area over the Arabian Sea. It is named Nisarg. A day later, the cyclone will hit the coasts of Gujarat and Maharashtra at a speed of about 100 kmph passing through the western coasts. Due to this, there will be heavy rain in these areas. Union Home Minister Amit Shah reviewed the preparations in a meeting with the officials of the departments.

Know when and where the storm will hit, what is the situation at this time

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Monday that Cyclone ‘Nisarg’ on June 3 could hit the coasts of North Maharashtra and South Gujarat between Harihareshwar and Daman in Raigad district of Maharashtra. IMD Deputy Director General Anand Kumar said that due to the low pressure area in the Arabian Sea, a cyclone could occur in the next 24 hours. The Nisarg cyclone will move north by the morning of 2 June. Then after moving north-north-east, one can collide between Harihareshwar (Raigad, Maharashtra) and Daman off the coasts of North Maharashtra and South Gujarat by evening or night of June 3. Please tell that Harihareshwar city is 200 kilometers from both Mumbai and Pune and 360 kilometers from Daman.



23 teams of NDRF deployed 

Home Ministry officials said that 23 NDRF teams have been deployed in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Daman and Diu and Dadar and Nagar Haveli to deal with the situation. Of these, 11 teams have been deployed in Gujarat, 10 teams in Maharashtra and two teams in Daman & Diu and Dadar & Nagar Haveli. A team of NDRF consists of 45 members.

Amit Shah’s meeting

The tweet from Amit Shah’s office was told that the Home Minister held a meeting with senior officials of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), NDRF, IMD and Coast Guard and reviewed the preparedness to deal with the situation arising out of the cyclone. According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the low pressure area over the Arabian Sea has turned into a disturbance in the south-southwest direction, about 920 km off the coast of Surat in Gujarat. It is expected to hit the shores of northern Maharashtra and southern Gujarat by the evening of June 3, taking the form of a cyclone.

According to the IMD, the coast will pass between Maharashtra and Gujarat from Harihareshwar and Daman on the evening of June 3. Jayant Sarkar, director of the IMD center in Ahmedabad, said that the natural storm would hit the shores at a speed of about 90 to 100 kilometers per hour. Due to this, on June 3 and June, there will be heavy rains in Bhavnagar and Amreli districts of South Gujarat as well as Saurashtra.

The coastal districts of Maharashtra including Mumbai will be affected



The coastal Sindhudurg, Ratnagiri, Thane, Raigad and Palghar districts of Maharashtra, including Mumbai, can be severely affected by the storm. Due to heavy rains, there is a possibility of flooding of low-lying areas of these districts. Trees, telephone lines, electric poles are also feared to be damaged due to the strong wind. The NDRF has deployed three teams in Mumbai, two in Palghar and one each in Thane, Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts.

CM of Gujarat reviews meeting

In view of the cyclone born in the Arabian Sea, Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani reviewed the high level meeting preparations in Gandhinagar. After the meeting, Rupani said that the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams have been deployed in five districts of North Gujarat and in Bhavnagar and Amreli districts to deal with the situation. 



Appeal to people to stay in homes

Chief Minister Rupani has requested the people of the coastal areas to stay indoors on June 3 and 4. Fishermen have also been recalled. Workers have also been evacuated from salt-producing areas to safer places. People have also been evacuated from submerged areas. A control room has been set up in Gandhinagar to monitor the situation.
