Many important steps have been taken by the government to make the Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) completely digital. The Ministry of Health has recently launched a new HMIS portal and mobile app. Through this, beneficiaries can now book appointments, download e-cards and avail medical services from home. These reforms will benefit millions of government employees, pensioners and their families across the country. With these changes, the CGHS service has become simpler, safer and more reliable than before, let’s know…
HMIS portal and mobile app launched
The Ministry of Health has recently launched a new HMIS (Health Management Information System) portal and a user-friendly mobile app for CGHS. Now people can download e-cards, book appointments from mobile.
PAN-based unique ID
Every beneficiary will now be given a unique CGHS ID linked to PAN like Aadhaar. This will keep all the records in one place and reduce the chances of fraud.
Digital payment system
Now the old Bharatkosh portal has been closed. CGHS subscription or renewal fees can now be deposited only on the new HMIS portal and the payment is verified immediately.
These machines will get online approval
Earlier, to get life saving machines like oxygen concentrator, CPAP, BiPAP, one had to submit documents several times and wait for approval. Now the facility of online application and approval has started for all these devices. CGHS cardholders who have trouble breathing at night can now get approval for BiPAP from home in 5 days instead of 20 days.
