How much fee will have to be paid for this?
Who are eligible?
All pensioners receiving pension from Central Civil Estimate can get CGHS card. The condition is that they should not be taking Fixed Medical Allowance (FMA). Such pensioners will get full CGHS card, which provides both OPD and IPD i.e. hospitalization service. If a pensioner is taking FMA, then he can only get IPD-only card. With this card, they get the facility of cashless treatment on hospitalization and reimbursement in case of emergency.
Method of application
Retired people can apply online by visiting the portal www.cghs.nic.in. After filling the application form, a temporary reference number is generated. Then this form has to be printed, signed, submitted with a photo and necessary documents to the CGHS Additional Director’s office in your city. After applying, the pensioner has to deposit the fixed contribution fee on the Bharat Kosh portal. Those who want to get a one-year card will have to deposit the fee for 12 months. Whereas, for a lifetime card, the fee for 120 months will have to be deposited in one lump sum.
How much will the fee be?
- The fee is fixed as per the pay level of the pensioner (7th Pay Commission).
- Level 1 to 5: Rs 3,000 per year or Rs 30,000 lifetime
- Level 6: Rs 5,400 per year or Rs 54,000 for lifetime
- Level 7 to 11: Rs 7,800 per year or Rs 78,000 lifetime
- Level 12 and above: Rs 12,000 per year or Rs 1,20,000 lifetime
Which documents are necessary?
- Self attested copy of PPO or Last Pay Certificate.
- Aadhaar or PAN card (ID and address proof)
- Passport size photo (of retirees and dependents)
- Bharat Kosh Payment Challan
- Proof of FMA status (taking it or not)
- Disability certificate to show the disabled member as dependent.
Digital cards are also valid
Now pensioners have been given the facility of digital CGHS card along with the physical card. This card can be downloaded from myCGHS app, DigiLocker app or CGHS website. The digital card is as valid as the plastic card and can be availed by showing it in hospitals.
