As per the recommendations of the Seventh Pay Commission, the central government employees get dearness allowance twice on a half-yearly basis. This means that dearness allowance increases twice a year.


There is good news for central employees waiting for a hike in DA. In fact, the government can take a decision on the dearness allowance of central employees till Holi. Let us tell you that this year Holi is on 08 March 2023, Wednesday. Before this, the government can approve the dearness allowance in the cabinet meeting.

Allowance is for the first half: Explain that according to the recommendations of the Seventh Pay Commission, central employees get dearness allowance twice on a half-yearly basis. This means that dearness allowance increases twice a year. Right now the decision is going to be taken on the allowance for the first half i.e. from January to June.

4 percent increase possible: In the current situation, the government can increase the allowance by four percent. If this happens, the allowance will increase from 38 per cent to 42 per cent. In September last year, the central government had taken a decision on the allowance for the last time. Dearness Allowance ie DA was increased from 34 per cent to 38 per cent.

Explain that the central government has not given arrears of 18 months of frozen DA during the Corona period. There are about 52 lakh employees and 60 lakh pensioners under the central government. Along with the dearness allowance of the employees, the government will also take a decision on the dearness relief for the pensioners.
