There is relief news for the assistants-employees of the universities of Haryana. The assistants of other universities of the state including Maharishi Dayanand University (MDU) will soon get the benefit of grade pay. The Haryana High Court has ordered the employees to pay a pay grade of Rs 3600 in 4 weeks. Under this, employees will get benefit of up to 7 lakhs.

According to media reports, on 28 April 1987, the state government had decided to give a pay grade of Rs 3600 to university assistants on the lines of Haryana Secretariat. After this, the government withdrew this order on 23 June 1987, after which the assistants started giving pay grade of Rs 3200 instead of 3600. When the dispute increased regarding its order, the matter reached the High Court.

According to media reports, other universities including MDU, Kurukshetra University, etc. filed separate petitions against it and the employees demanded a pay grade of Rs 3600. After this, the High Court ordered to give pay grades to the employees in July 2019, despite this the university did not implement them. After this, the matter of contempt of the High Court reached the High Court, on which the High Court heard the order in 4 weeks. Implemented, ordered the court to apprise it.

According to media reports, on August 18, the court of Justice JL Walia, while hearing the contempt case, ordered that the court should be made aware of this by executing the orders in weeks. If the pay grade is 3200 to 3600 rupees, the employees will get the benefit of one lakh to 7-8 lakh rupees. According to the rules, the decision can be challenged in the apex court within 90 days, in this case it did not happen.
