Big relief for taxpayers! Income Tax Department again extended the deadline for these forms

Income Tax Deadline: The government has given big relief to the taxpayers. Following complaints of problems from taxpayers on the new tax portal, the Finance Ministry has extended the deadline for e-filing of various forms covered under the Income Tax Act, 1961.

Extended the deadline for filling these forms

A statement issued by the Finance Ministry said that keeping in view the difficulties pointed out by the taxpayers and other stakeholders under the provisions of the Income Tax Act, 1961, the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has initiated electronic filing of such forms. It has been decided to extend the dates fixed for the same.

1. CBDT Extends Deadline

The deadline for filing income tax returns for individuals for the financial year 2020-21 has already been extended to 30 September 2021, which normally happens to be 31 July. A tweet has also been made by the Income Tax Department regarding the forms whose e-filing deadline has been extended.

2. Extended the deadline for these compliances

Apart from this, the Income Tax Department has also extended the deadline for many compliances. In which the deadline for filing the statement of equalization levy and remittance is also included.

The deadline for filing Equalization Levy Statement in Form-1 for the financial year 2020-21 has been extended from the due date of June 30 to December 31. Quarterly statements in Form 15CC to be furnished by authorized dealers in respect of remittances made for the June and September quarters can now be filed by November 30 and December 31. The dates for filing this statement are 15 July and 15 October.

3. Vivad Se Vishwas Scheme

In a separate statement, the CBDT has announced that the deadline for making payments under the Direct Tax Dispute Resolution Scheme Vivad Se Vishwas (VsV) has been extended by one month to September 30, although taxpayers will have to pay till October 31 with additional interest. There is an option to.

4. Pension Fund, Sovereign Wealth Fund

Also, the due dates for electronic filing of information related forms by Pension Fund and Sovereign Wealth Fund have also been extended. Information to be filed by Pension Funds and Sovereign Wealth Funds in respect of investments made in India for the June and September quarters, which are required to be filed by July 31 and October 31, will now have to be submitted by November 30 and December 31.

5. Form 15G/15H

The CBDT extended the due date for uploading of declarations received in Form 15G/15H for the June and September quarters to November 30 and December 31. Their original dates were 15 July and 15 October.
