In a meeting held on May 10, 2022 with cab aggregators, it has been warned that strict action will be taken if they do not improve their system. Now the Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) has issued instructions to stop their arbitrariness.

New Delhi. In view of the increasing complaints against cab aggregators, now the government has started taking strict steps to check their arbitrariness. The Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) has now issued new instructions regarding cab booking and cancellation. Now if the cab driver cancels the ride without any solid reason, then strict action will be taken against him. Along with this, taking rent in cash has been completely banned.

Significantly, on May 10, 2022, in a meeting with cab aggregators, the government had warned that strict action would be taken against them if they do not improve their system and address the increasing complaints of consumers. After this, on May 20, the Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) issued notices to Ola and Uber. The authority had given 15 days to Ola and Uber to respond to the notice.

These are complaints

Complaints against cab aggregators have increased significantly in the last few days. Most of the consumer complaints are related to deficiency in services and other unfair trade practices. The biggest complaint of consumers is unnecessarily canceling rides by cab drivers. Apart from this, consumers are also complaining about charging more than the fixed amount, asking for the fare in cash and not running AC in the vehicle during the journey.

Arbitrariness will be expensive now

According to a report by News18 Uttar Pradesh/Uttarakhand, the CCPA has now become strict on the arbitrariness of cab aggregators and cab drivers. He has now issued new instructions saying that if any company or driver adopts unfair means or behaves poorly with the customer, then strict action will be taken against him. The CCPA has said that now the cab driver cannot cancel the ride without reason. Apart from this, he cannot even ask the payment mode from the consumer and he will have to collect the fare online. Under no circumstances will he be able to take cash from the consumer. Once the ride is booked and the location is asked, the driver cannot cancel the ride.
