Bank Holidays: Banks will remain closed for 10 consecutive days from today

Banks across the country will remain closed for 10 consecutive days due to Navratri and festivals. The month of September is about to end and October is about to begin. Everyone in the country is currently celebrating Navratri. Now next month, banks will be closed for 10 consecutive days due to Navratri and festivals. These holidays vary in different states.

September-October 2025 is a festive season, with major festivals like Dussehra, Diwali, Chhath Puja and Durga Puja falling during it. As a result, banks will remain closed in many states. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has also released the list of bank holidays for October 2025. However, these holidays will only affect physical branches. Customers will be able to use online banking services as usual.

Holidays in September

September 29 (Monday): Maha Saptami or Durga Puja in Agartala, Gangtok and Kolkata.

September 30 (Tuesday): Maha Ashtami/Durga Ashtami in several cities including Agartala, Bhubaneswar, Guwahati, Kolkata, Patna and Ranchi.

October 1, 2025

Banks will remain closed on this day due to Vijayadashami (Dussehra), Ayudhya Puja and Durga Puja. This holiday will be applicable in Tripura, Karnataka, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Sikkim, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, Nagaland, West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand and Meghalaya.

October 2, 2025

Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti will be a national holiday across the country. Banks will remain closed in all states and union territories on this day.

October 3 and 4, 2025

Banks will remain closed in Sikkim on these days due to Durga Puja.

October 6, 2025

Banks will remain closed in Tripura and West Bengal on the occasion of Lakshmi Puja.

October 7, 2025

Banks will remain closed in Karnataka, Odisha, Chandigarh and Himachal Pradesh on this day. Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti and Kumar Purnima will be celebrated here. Overall, there will be several state-specific holidays in October. Customers should ensure that they complete their essential banking transactions on time to avoid inconvenience during the festivals. Banking services will not be offline across the country on these dates.
