8th Central Pay Commission: A big good news can come for lakhs of central government employees. Modi government has started discussions with major departments for the 8th Pay Commission. The government is in discussions with the Home Ministry, Ministry of Defense, Department of Personnel and Training and state governments. When this commission is formally constituted and submits its report to the government. Only then can the new salary and allowance of the employees be estimated correctly.
Salary hike depends on fitment factor
Fitment factor plays a very important role in the process of increasing government salary. It is a multiplier by which the existing basic salary is multiplied so that the new salary can be decided.
This factor was 2.57 in the 7th Pay Commission. Now experts estimate that in the 8th Pay Commission it can be between 1.92 to 2.86. That is, the bigger the fitment factor, the more the salary will increase. For example, if the current basic salary of an employee is Rs 30,000 and the fitment factor is fixed at 2.57, then his new basic salary will be Rs 77,100.
