Suresh Kumar Khanna informed about the decisions taken in the cabinet meeting held on Tuesday. Paying these contractual workers the minimum wage of the 7th Pay Commission was recommended by the Pay Committee (2016), which was set up to implement the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission of the state.
About 250 of these employees are contract doctors in the health department, while most of them are fourth class employees who work in other departments including irrigation, public works and health.
Considering the recommendation of the Pay Committee, the Chief Secretary Committee suggested that the government should implement it. The decision of the Chief Secretary Committee was taken into account by the cabinet which opted to pay the minimum wages of seventh pay grade to these contractual workers.
