A report has claimed that the announcement in this regard is expected to be made on March 8. However, there is no official confirmation on the exact date of announcement of DA hike by the Centre. For this reason, the Central Government employees should wait till the official order is issued in this regard.
If the salary hike is done, it will be the first dearness allowance hike of 2023 for central government employees. Apart from the DA hike, there is also a possibility of a hike in dearness relief for government jobs on the same day.
When will DA be increased?
There is no official confirmation of the date of announcement of DA/DR hike by the government. However, it is expected that the Center may announce the DA hike after the festival of Holi.
How much can DA increase this time?
Central government employees are expecting a 4% hike in DA and DR respectively. If it is announced, then the new rate of DA for central government employees will increase to 42%.
How much DA was increased earlier
The Central Government had increased the DA on October 3, 2022 in an official order. Dearness allowance has been increased from 34% to 38% of basic pay from 1st July 2022. Dearness relief for Central Government pensioners was also increased from 34% to 38%.
Employees should note that the basic pay for calculation of DA is based on the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission. The Center provides DA/DR to employees and pensioners to compensate them for shortfall in the value of their salary/pension income due to rising inflation.
