A good news has come before Christmas for the 7th pay commission teachers of primary school. The state government has increased their salary by 15%.

According to media reports, more than 3.5 lakh teachers and librarians working from primary schools to secondary and higher secondary schools in Panchayati Raj and municipal bodies of the state will be benefitted by this move of the state government. Notably, the increment will be applicable from April 1, 2021 and the amount will be sent to their accounts on January 1, 2022.

In this regard, the Education Department of Bihar State has issued detailed guidelines. In the guidelines, the state government said that the employees will also be given an increase in Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA) and Medical Allowance. Along with this, the rule of increment in grade pay will also be applicable. According to media reports, after getting the benefit to the teachers, the salary of trained teachers who have completed 2 years in primary to senior secondary schools will increase from about Rs 3000 to about Rs 4000.

After the official announcement, the process of fixing the salary of teachers will start and teachers will get the increased salary from January 1. Earlier in July, the government reinstated Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) and increased the rate of allowances from 17 per cent to 28 per cent.

The development comes after the Center increased the DA of all central employees in October. Dearness Allowance and Dearness Relief increased by 3 percent, benefiting more than 47.14 lakh central government employees and 68.62 lakh pensioners. This decision to increase the allowance will cost the exchequer Rs 9,488 crore annually.
