After the increase of 11 percent in the DA of 7th pay commission central employees, the Modi government has now given a big benefit to the railway employees. Actually, 78 days’ salary bonus is being sent to their account before others. This has benefited more than 11 lakh railway employees across the country.

For the financial year 2020-21, the Union Cabinet has authorized Productivity Linked Bonus (PLB) of 78 days’ salary for all eligible non-gazetted railway personnel. The decision is expected to benefit about 11.56 lakh non-gazetted railway employees and all non-gazetted railway employees except members of Railway Protection Force (RPF), Railway Protection Special Force (RPSF). Who are eligible for Productivity Linked Bonus (PLB). Which is equivalent to 78 days’ salary without any salary limit for the financial year 2020-21. If the monthly salary is more than Rs 7000 per month then Productivity Linked Bonus (PLB) will be determined as if the wage is Rs 7000 per month.

The Ministry of Railways has also clarified that “for the purpose of computing Productivity Linked Bonus, wages shall include ‘Basic Pay’ as defined in the Railway Services (Revised Pay) Rules, 2016 and Dearness Allowance received during the financial year 2020-21″. . Other eligibility conditions, method of calculation of pay, etc., as prescribed in the instructions of the Ministry and clarifications issued from time to time, shall remain unchanged.



The Ministry has now declared that the eligible employees who were not placed on suspension, did not leave, retired, or terminated, or were on leave during the financial year 2020-21, where the leave salary would be less than the admissible leave pay. Not less. Average salary, an amount of Rs 17,951 will be paid as Productivity Linked Bonus for the financial year 2020-21. Productivity Linked Bonus for employees not specified above can be calculated as per official rules.

Further, as per Rule 905(2), 908, and 909 of the State Railway Provident Fund (SRPF) Rules, the subscribers of SRPF who are eligible for Productivity Linked Bonus shall be entitled to the full or part of the amount allowed under it with the Ministry. They can contribute to their respective State Railway Provident Fund accounts accordingly.

The Ministry has also specified that the payment of Productivity Linked Bonus to all eligible non-gazetted Railway employees for the financial year 2020-21 will be made on priority basis as is the salary settlement before Puja/Dussehra holidays. Ministry of Railways has further stated that “The above decision for payment of PLB has been taken notwithstanding the adverse financial position due to Corona challenges. In some railways, the PLB is being paid uniformly for all zonal railways, despite deficiencies related to operating ratio, earnings, loading etc.
