The Department of Pensioners and Welfare under the Ministry of Personnel has said that the concerned branch of the pensioner has also issued an authentic notification for the payment of Dearness Allowance on the basis of old and authentic ordinary pension.

Government issued memorandum
Department of Pensioners and Welfare said that it has received several queries regarding whether dearness allowance is being paid on basic pension or reduced after commutation on pension, on the basis of commission commutation Inflation relief has been given on the basic pension or on the basic pension before Rs. guidance.

The inflation wing’s clarification on pension after deduction of commuted pension
has allayed the plight of pensioners that they are paid inflation treatment on the basis of specific primary pension and not on the basis of reduced pension after commutation.

It is noteworthy that under sub-rule 52 of the Pension Rules 2021, pension relief
is paid to retired employees amid rising inflation. This amount is given to the pensioner or his beneficiary. An increase in DR for retired personnel is announced when DA for personnel is increased.

What is the DR at present?
It is worth noting that this time under the Seventh Pay Commission, the Central Government has increased the dearness allowance of the employees by 38 percent. At the same time, dearness relief to pensioners has also been increased to 38 percent. The calculation will be done on the basis of primary pension before commutation. 1 July 2022 38 percent inflation mitigation has been implemented.
