7th Pay Commission: According to officials, so far the state-owned corporation has suspended 2,053 employees from various depots for participating in the strike and requesting others to join the strike.

7th Pay Commission Latest News: Maharashtra Transport Minister Anil Parab met Nationalist Congress Party President Sharad Pawar on Saturday in connection with the strike by Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) employees. Today is the seventh day of the strike. The employees of MSRTC are on strike demanding the merger of the PSU with the state government. This process will provide better wages and job security to the employees.

Officials of the state transport department indicated that hike in employees’ salaries and other facilities could be considered but the merger proposal is complicated as other public sector corporations may also raise such demands. Explain that due to the merger, MSRTC employees will get the status of state government employees.

A meeting of Parab and Chief Secretary Sitaram Kunte and senior officials and some BJP leaders is going on at the state guest house Sahyadri to end the deadlock. Maharashtra Navnirman Sena President Raj Thackeray had met Pawar on Friday and discussed the issue. Earlier, all 250 bus depots of Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation remained closed on Friday due to the strike by the employees. However, some employees have resumed work in the workshops of the transport undertaking.

An MSRTC spokesperson had said, “All 250 depots across the state are closed, but the workers of the workshops have returned to work.” On Thursday, Maharashtra Transport Minister Anil Parab assured full security to those employees who are willing to return to duty. According to MSRTC officials, so far the state-owned corporation has suspended 2,053 employees from various depots for participating in the strike and requesting others to join the strike. Of these, 1,135 were suspended on Thursday.

An official said the corporation may also take similar action against the employees. Meanwhile, a group of MSRTC employees continued their protest at Azad Maidan in South Mumbai. A sit-in has been going on since Tuesday at Azad Maidan, which has the support of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
