After this increase, the employees’ allowance became 50% of the basic salary. Along with the allowance being increased to 50%, various types of allowances of the Central Government employees also increased.
HRA also increased
For example, there was an increase in the rent allowance (HRA) of the employees. The allowance has been increased for central employees living in X, Y and Z category cities. Apart from this, the tax exemption limit on gratuity of central government employees has been increased from Rs 20 lakh to Rs 25 lakh. Apart from this, retirement and death gratuity has also increased.
What is gratuity
Gratuity is the scheme under which the employer gives to his employee. However, for this it is necessary that the employee should provide continuous service to the same employer for 5 years or more. According to the Payment of Gratuity Act, 1972, this gratuity will be given to the employee when he retires or retires or resigns.
Limit of education allowance and hostel subsidy increased
Recently, the Personnel Ministry, citing a guideline of the year 2018, said that there is a provision in the order that whenever the dearness allowance in the revised salary increases by 50 percent, the limit of children’s education allowance and hostel subsidy will naturally increase by 25 percent. Will go. The ministry said that in view of the increase in dearness allowance of central employees from January 1, 2024, information is being sought about the amount of children’s education allowance and hostel subsidy.
According to the Personnel Ministry, the amount of reimbursement of children’s education allowance, irrespective of the actual expenses incurred by the government employees, will be Rs 2,812.5 per month and hostel subsidy will be Rs 8,437.5 per month.
