Actually, the Department of Personnel and Training has issued an Official Memorandum (OM) on April 2, 2024. According to this, 6 types of allowances have been increased for central government employees. Let us tell you that the government has increased the allowance of central employees by 4 percent to 50 percent from January to June 2024. However, let us know which are those six allowances, regarding which a memorandum has been issued by the government.

Child Education Allowance (CEA)

According to the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission, there was a proposal to increase this allowance when the allowance of the central employee was 50 percent. According to the proposal, now child education allowance has increased to 25 percent. Child Education Allowance/Hostel Subsidy can be claimed only for two children. The amount of hostel subsidy is Rs. 6750/- per month. If a central employee has a disabled child, the child education allowance is double the normal rate.

Risk allowance

The rates of risk allowance have been revised based on the recommendation of the 7th Pay Commission. Risk allowance is given to those employees who perform risky work. Apart from this, whose work will have harmful effects on health.

Night Duty Allowance (NDA)

Night duty allowance has also been revised based on the recommendation of the 7th Pay Commission. Let us tell you that night duty is defined as the duty done between 22:00 and 6:00. An equal weightage of 10 minutes is given for each hour of night duty. The limit of basic salary for eligibility for Night Duty Allowance is Rs 43600/- per month.

Apart from this, there has also been a change in Over Time Allowance (OTA), special allowance payable to Parliament Assistants and special allowance for child care given to disabled women employees.
