Greater Noida. A big step has been taken to curb accidents on the Yamuna Expressway going from Greater Noida to Agra in Gautam Buddha Nagar, UP, adjacent to the country’s capital Delhi.

Following the letter from the Yamuna Expressway Development Authority (YEDA), Jaypee Infratech, the company operating the Yamuna Expressway, has decided to reduce the speed limit of vehicles. Under this, now light vehicles will now run at a speed of 80 kilometers per hour instead of 100.

Apart from this, Jaypee Infratech has reduced the speed limit of heavy vehicles from 80 to 60 kmph. This rule will be applicable from 15 December 2021 to 15 February 2022. According to the fixed speed, now the car rider will have to complete his journey on Yamuna Expressway in 99 minutes i.e. 1.39 hours. If the journey is completed in less than this time then fine will be imposed. For heavy vehicles, 124 minutes means 2.4 hours. With this, Yamuna Expressway officials said that the work of monitoring the speed is being done with the help of CCTV cameras installed at various places. If any driver violates this then his e-challan will be deducted.

For this reason the authority wrote a letter to the company

Let us tell you that a few days ago the Yamuna Authority had written a letter to reduce the speed limit of Jaypee Infratech vehicles, the company operating the Yamuna Expressway. At the same time, Yamuna Authority CEO Dr. Arunveer Singh said that Jaypee Infratech, the company operating the expressway, has been directed to make necessary arrangements by sending a letter. By the way, the Yamuna Authority had taken the step because the number of accidents increases further due to reduced visibility due to fog in winter. At the same time, Jaypee Infratech has decided to reduce the maximum limit of vehicles after the letter of Yamuna Authority for prevention of accidents in winter.

IIT Delhi’s suggestions are also being implemented

At the same time, the suggestions of IIT Delhi are being implemented to prevent accidents on Yamuna Expressway. For this reason, the work of installing crash beam barriers on both sides of the space between the two roads of Yamuna Expressway is going on, which is about 50 percent complete so far. In fact, after the installation of the crash beam barrier, the speeding vehicles will not be able to hit the vehicles passing by on the other side. Not only this, the work of installation of rumble strip, signage etc. has also been completed.
