Sthree Suraksha Scheme: The Sthree Suraksha Scheme has been launched to strengthen the economic and social security of women. The Kerala government has introduced this scheme specifically for women who are unable to avail themselves of any other government social security scheme. Launched in October, the application process for this scheme has now begun. Eligible women will receive financial assistance of ₹1,000 per month under this scheme.

The government estimates that this scheme will benefit approximately 31.34 lakh women in the state. The Kerala government has allocated an annual budget of approximately ₹3,800 crore for this. The scheme funds will be transferred directly to the beneficiary’s bank account. Local bodies will scrutinize the application before making the payment. The funds will then be transferred to the account through the Kerala Social Security Pension Company.

Who can avail the benefits of the scheme

There are certain requirements to avail the Stree Suraksha Scheme. Applicants must be residents of Kerala and between the ages of 35 and 60. The woman’s family must have a valid ration card (AAY or PHH). An Aadhaar card is also mandatory, and she must not hold a regular government job.

Which documents are necessary

While applying, the woman will have to submit proof of residence in Kerala, age-related documents (such as birth certificate, school record, driving license or passport), Aadhaar card, bank account and IFSC code, valid ration card and self-declaration letter regarding eligibility.
