Jio Vs Airtel: Telecom companies Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio are working towards rapidly rolling out 5G network in India. Both companies are conducting 5G trials in different cities across the country. Airtel recently gave a live demo of 5G in Hyderabad. Airtel relies on non stand alone 5G network, while Jio is working on stand alone 5G network. There is a slight difference in the techniques of both. In such a situation, let us know how both work and which of them is the best?

What is 5G non stand alone network

Simply put, a network that requires a 4G network to remain stable is called a non-stand alone 5G network. In this, the EPC (Evolved Packet Core) of 4G LTE is connected to the New Radio (NR) of the 5G tower. Meaning the non stand alone 5G tower works on the EPC of 4G. And thus gives 5G connectivity.

What is non stand 5G network

Non stand 5G network does not work with 4G network in any way. Meaning the tower of 5G is based on the EPC of 5G. It is a 5G network completely different from 4G. It costs more to develop it.

Who is the best between Airtel and Jio 5G?

Both stand alone and non stand alone networks are the best. Jio is spending directly on stand alone network. Whereas Airtel is developing non stand alone network first and will later shift to stand alone network as Airtel has already spent a lot on 4G network. Stand alone 5G network is essential for any live operation, technology like smart city, driverless. But by the time technology like driveless cars is implemented in India, Aitel will completely shift to a stand-alone network. So both the networks are the best.

Low band 5G, mid-band 5G and sub 6-GHz 5G band is being done by the telecom company Reliance Jio. Also, the company is working on mmWave 5G band, which is necessary for high speed internet. While Airtel is working on low-band 5G. Airtel recently gave a live demo of low-band 5G network on non stand alone network with 4G hardware. Also, Airtel has not announced the mmWave 5G band. Airtel is working towards rolling out 5G with Ericsson. While Jio has partnered with Qualcomm and VI to develop 5G network with Nokia.
