Through this medium, Aadhaar holders can provide their information to any other person without sharing their Aadhaar number.

What is the difference between masked Aadhaar and normal Aadhaar?

In masked Aadhaar, the last 4 digits of any person’s Aadhaar number are visible and the remaining 8 digits are hidden. Rest of it contains other information like name, date of birth, gender, address and QR code etc. Its advantage is that you can easily give your information to others without sharing the complete Aadhaar number.

How to download masked Aadhaar?

  • For this, first of all you have to go to UIDAI website.
  • Now select the option of ‘Download Aadhaar’.
  • After this select ‘Aadhaar/VID/Enrolment ID’.
  • Then select the option of ‘Masked Aadhaar’.
  • Now enter the OTP received on your mobile number.
  • After this your masked Aadhaar will be downloaded.

Where is masked Aadhaar used?

You can use masked Aadhaar to prove your identity at hotels, airports, train travel and anywhere else. However, while availing the benefits of any government scheme where the complete Aadhaar number is required. You cannot use masked Aadhaar there. Let us tell you, using masked Aadhaar is considered much better because there is no risk of your information going to any other person.
