JNN, New Delhi. The people of north India, who were scorched by the scorching heat, got some relief by the evening of Thursday. From the hilly states to Delhi-NCR, the weather has changed due to the heavy rains on Thursday evening. Delhi recorded a maximum temperature of 40.3 ° C and a minimum of 29.6 ° C on Thursday.

According to the Meteorological Department, there was relief from heat stroke that lasted for seven days. Since May 21, the maximum temperature was recorded above 42 degrees Celsius. Now till June 1, there will be some relief from the heat. On Friday, there may be light rain with a cloudy day. At the same time it is possible to run a dusty storm. At the same time, there will be a similar season on Saturday. Light rain may occur on 31 May and 1 June. 

Why the weather changes 



Skymet’s chief meteorologist Mahesh Palawat said that due to western disturbances arriving in North India on Thursday, the weather in Delhi changed. This brought relief from the scorching heat. Moist air reached Delhi. At the same time, a cyclonic activity also took effect in Rajasthan, which changed the weather. It will have effect till June 1.

Rain also in punjab 

Punjab’s Patiala, Ludhiana, Mansa, Barnala, Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Faridkot, Muktsar and Nangal received heavy rains on Thursday. Heavy rains flooded roads in Patiala. Due to the strong storm in Bathinda and Faridkot, a large number of trees and electric poles broke down.

Clouds of relief came in Rajasthan

In Rajasthan, there has been some relief from the scorching heat of the last three after Thursday afternoon. In some areas of the state, the weather took a turn on Thursday and in Bharatpur district where it rained for about half an hour. Thursday’s temperature in Churu was recorded at 46.6 degrees.



Thunderstorms and rains expected today even in the mountains 

In Uttarakhand and Himachal, the weather changed sides and brake at the speed of mercury. Rainfall occurred in many areas of Uttarkashi, Tehri, Chamoli and Rudraprayag later in the afternoon, while the temperature in Dehradun and Haridwar decreased by four to six degrees Celsius. According to the Meteorological Department, on Friday, the wind can move at a speed of 60 to 70 km per hour. At the same time, there are chances of rain in the mountainous areas. This mood of the weather will remain till 31 May. Similarly, Himachal’s Lahul-Spiti and other areas of the state received relief from the heat on Thursday due to snowfall and rain in the plains, but there has also been damage from thunderstorms and hail.

P. Rain forecast till Saturday in Bengal

The Indian Meteorological Department predicted rain and strong winds in West Bengal for the next two days. In Kolkata and some southern districts of Bengal, the sky was cloudy on Thursday and it was raining intermittently. There is a possibility of lightning and rain with strong winds till Saturday in North 24 Parganas, East and West Burdwan, Murshidabad and Birbhum districts of South Bengal, a department official said. Winds can be 50-60 km / h. The department said that other districts along the Gangetic plains in West Bengal may be lashed with rain or thunder for the next two days. Kolkata had winds of 96 km per hour on Wednesday evening.

Chance of normal rain this year



According to the Meteorological Department, the country is expected to receive normal rainfall this year. The department said that a low pressure area has formed over the west-central Arabian Sea. It is likely to change in the area of ​​pressure during the next 48 hours. He told that in the next three days there is a strong possibility of moving north-west towards the coast of South-Oman and East Yemen. Under this weather condition, heavy rains are likely to occur over South Peninsular India from 28 to 31 May. Also, Kerala and Lakshadweep may also receive heavy rains on 30-31 May. The department has forecast heavy rains during the next 24 hours in Tripura and Mizoram and strong rains in Assam and Meghalaya.
