Heavy rain alert – The weather of entire North India including Punjab is about to change. The Meteorological Department has shared information in this regard. There may be light clouds in Haryana, Punjab, Delhi, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. Heavy rain has also been reported at some places.

According to the Meteorological Department, heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur at many places in Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry in the next seven days. According to the Meteorological Department (IMD), light to moderate rainfall with isolated heavy rainfall is likely to occur at some places over Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Mahe between October 17 and 22 and over Lakshadweep and South Interior Karnataka between October 17 and 19.

Light to moderate rainfall is predicted over coastal Karnataka, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam and Rayalaseema on October 17. Very heavy rainfall is likely over Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Mahe and Lakshadweep. Lightning and thunderstorms are likely over these areas for the next five days.

According to the department, there is a possibility of lightning and thunderstorms in Konkan, Goa and Madhya Maharashtra between October 18 and 20.

Rain likely in West Bengal

According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of light rain in the coastal areas of Bengal on Saturday and Sunday. There is less chance of rain in Kolkata, but the sky may remain cloudy. The department also said that there may be light rain in the coastal areas in the coming days.

What will the weather be like in North India?

The weather is gradually changing in the plains of North India. Haryana, Punjab, Delhi, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh may remain partly cloudy. Heavy rain has also been reported at some places.

Apart from Jammu and Kashmir, snowfall has started in hilly states like Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, and its effects are being felt in the plains. According to IMD, if snowfall continues till Diwali, the cold wave may intensify. The weather in Himachal Pradesh is expected to remain generally clear till October 21, but there will be snowfall in higher altitude areas.
