Election Commission of India (ECI) issues voter ID card in the country . Our country, with a population of over 1.2 billion, had about 815 million at the time of the last census.
Sometimes there is a mistake in the Voter ID card. Many of us get upset due to wrong name or spelling mistake in Voter ID card. If your name is also wrongly printed in the voter ID card, then you can get it changed due to a simple process.
Correction can be done in Voter ID card both offline and online. For this, the applicant has to fill the application form and attach the supporting documents.
How to make online correction in voter id card
- Visit the National Voters Services Portal http://www.nvsp.in. This website has been created to provide services to the voters.
- Now click on Correction of entries in electoral roll section.
- Now a new page will open. After that click on Form 8.
- After this you will be directed to the page where you can request for voter card correction.
- Fill the details given below in the form.
- Give details of your state and assembly/parliamentary constituency.
- After that enter the details like name, part number of electoral roll, serial number, gender and age
- Now fill the details of your family like your father/mother/husband
- Now fill your full address.
- Once you have filled all these details, you will have to upload the supported documents.
- In this, you will have to fill your latest photograph, valid ID and address proof.
- After this select the details which have to be corrected or changed. For this, you can choose My Name tab if only the name in your Voter ID card is correct.
- Now enter the city you are currently living in
- After this, enter the date on which you are putting the request for correction of name in the voter ID card.
- Now enter your contact information like mobile number, email id
- After that verify all the given information and click on submit tab
- If all the information given by you is correct, then the Election Commission will verify it and make the relevant correction.
Online way to change or correct name in voter id card

- First of all go to the website of the Chief Election Officer of your state, here you will get the nvsp form online.
- Fill the nvsp Form 8, this form is for the application to change the name in the electoral roll.
- Once the form is filled, then upload the required documents to change the name. You have to provide official proof like government ID proof.
- To get the name corrected, upload the document in which the spelling of the name is correct. Like passport, pan card or any official documents
- Now submit nvsp form 8 and documents online
- After this a reference number will be generated, through which you can check the status of your online application.
- Once submitted, your application will be processed and the information will be verified by the electoral authorities.
- If the verification is successful, you will get a notification and you will be able to collect your new Voter ID card from the nearest electoral office.
