The US Embassy has issued a notice regarding this. Accordingly, the interview slots will open from August 14. Students can apply for appointment now.

According to the embassy, ​​students who need to attend college by mid-August can now apply for the visa interview slot. The notice reads- ‘Interview slots are now available for I-20 students who need to apply for visa types F, M and J at Embassy and Consulate for interview after August 14th.’

Let us tell you that many students who were planning to study in American universities and who had already received their I-20 documents from there, were waiting for their visa interview. Now there is news of relief for all of them.

Increase the number of visas

A few days ago, the US Embassy said that it is going to complete the process of issuing 8 lakh visas in India in the next 12 months. Counselor Donald L. Heflin, the Minister of Consular Affairs at the US Embassy, ​​had said that the number of visa processing would be increased by 2023 or 2024. Its number had decreased due to Corona.

India raised the issue

Last week, India took up the issue of long delays in granting visas to Indian students with Australia, Canada, UK, US, Germany and several other countries. Sources said thousands of Indian students are struggling to return to these countries to take offline classes as there is a long delay in granting them visas by the respective embassies.

What did the Ministry of External Affairs say?

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi called the discussion “meaningful”. He had tweeted, ‘Senior officials of the Ministry of External Affairs working with Australia, Canada, Czech Republic, Germany, New Zealand, Poland, UK and USA have spoken to senior diplomats/missions of these countries regarding grant of student visas to Indian nationals. Had a fruitful discussion with the chiefs. They agreed to negotiate to simplify and expedite the process as student movement has been mutually beneficial.
