New rule for generating UPI PIN: NPCI issued new rule for generating UPI PIN, now debit card is not required

Punjab National Bank has announced the activation of UPI facility through Aadhaar for its customers. Punjab National Bank customers can activate UPI on their phones through Aadhaar One Time Password Authentication


If you want to use the UPI facility on your phone and do not have a debit card, then there is an important update for you. Actually the thing is that now you can use the UPI facility in your phone through your Aadhaar card as well. However, for this you will also need OTP. Let us tell you that till now the debit card number was required to start the UPI facility. But now you will be able to activate UPI through your Aadhaar number as well.

Punjab National Bank has started the facility

Punjab National Bank , a leading public sector bank , has announced the activation of UPI facility through Aadhaar for its customers. Punjab National Bank customers can activate UPI on their phones through Aadhaar one time password authentication. Earlier, to activate UPI, people had to set up a PIN while registering for which the debit card number was required. Because of which people who did not have a debit card could not use the UPI service.

PNB gave information through tweet

In a tweet, PNB told that do you know that now you do not need a debit card for UPI registration. You can use UPI with Aadhaar. According to the NPCI website, a better and easier way is to set or reset UPI through Aadhaar OTP. This will prove to be very useful for users who do not have a debit card and want to use the UPI service.

This is how this service will work

1- First of all open your UPI app and go to set new UPI PIN

2- After this select the option of Aadhaar based verification

3- Accept the given information and give your approval

4- Validate by typing the last 6 digits of Aadhaar card

5- Now enter the OTP received on the registered mobile number

6- Accept and approve

7- Enter and confirm the new UPI PIN after bank verification

Your approval is required

According to the NPCI website, resetting UPI PIN through Aadhaar number requires customer approval. Customers need to give their consent for setting UPI PIN using Aadhaar card. Apart from this, you will be able to set UPI PIN through Aadhaar OTP only if their mobile number is linked to Aadhaar and your bank account is also linked to it. Also, the link number of your Aadhaar and bank account should also be same. You will have the option to set a UPI PIN using Aadhaar and the customer will be informed if the same is not supported by the customer’s bank.
