UPI New Rule: There’s good news for UPI users. The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) is introducing a major change to UPI effective December 31, 2025.

This new feature will allow you to view and manage all your payments and autopayments from any UPI app, such as Google Pay, PhonePe, or Paytm.

Even if these payments are set up on another app. Furthermore, you’ll also be able to transfer your autopayments from one app to another. Until now, if you set up an autopayment on Google Pay and another on PhonePe, you had to check in both apps. But that’s no longer the case.

Financial planning will be easier

With the new rule in place, you’ll be able to view all your payments from a single app of your choice. This will make your financial planning much easier. For example, if you have your electricity bill autopayment set up on Google Pay and your Netflix payment on PhonePe, you’ll be able to view and control both from a single app, either PhonePe or Google Pay.

New authentication processes added

NPCI has also clarified that this feature will not put any pressure on users. There will be no cashback offers, nor will you be sent any notifications asking you to use a specific app. It will be entirely up to you which app you choose to use. Additionally, new authentication methods have been added to make UPI more secure. You can now secure payments using face recognition or biometrics, such as fingerprints. This step has been taken to make UPI more transparent, easy, and secure.

The new rule will be applicable till December 31, 2025

All UPI apps and payment service providers will be required to implement this new feature by December 31, 2025. This will make it easier to track your autopayments, such as bill payments, subscriptions, or loan installments. If you need to change your UPI app for any reason, you can easily transfer your autopayments to the new app. This feature is especially beneficial for those who use multiple apps and want to see a single record of their payments.

This change will further enhance digital payments. Now, you can manage all your payments seamlessly from a single app. This new feature will not only save time but also strengthen your financial planning.
