Registration fees for sale deeds in Meerut will now be deposited online. Fees of more than 20 thousand will now have to be paid online instead of in cash. The government has taken this step to stop extra collection.
At present, this system has started in five districts but will soon be implemented in the entire state. This step will bring transparency in the sale deed process.
Stamp duty for the deed is now obtained through e-stamp but the registration fee is deposited in cash in the sub-registrar office. Along with this fee, there are also allegations of recovery of additional amount.
The government has now prepared to end this game of collecting extra money. If sources of the registration department are to be believed, this system will soon be implemented in all the districts of the state.
For registration of a deed, one percent of the stamp duty has to be deposited in cash in the sub-registrar office as registration fee. Along with this cash fee, there are allegations of taking additional amount in sub-registrar offices.
The government has now made arrangements to stop this extra collection, under which if the registration fee is more than 20 thousand, then it will be compulsorily deposited online. The government has also nominated three nodal officers to resolve the problem in depositing the fee or to refund the unused fee.
Right now it is a pilot project in five districts, soon in the state
The state’s IG Registration Neha Sharma has written in the order that with time, the number of deeds and the amount of fees deposited in cash in the sub-registrar offices is increasing. Due to which calculating the fees, checking the notes and depositing the money through challan is becoming challenging.
This decision has been taken to make the process transparent, efficient and safe. It has been implemented in five identified districts of the state, Azamgarh, Barabanki, Rae Bareli, Sultanpur and Sitapur. Local officials say that soon this system will be implemented in all the districts of the state.
