Government oil companies under the Ministry of Petroleum are now preparing the final draft of the second phase of Ujjwala. There will be many major changes in this, in which the biggest change will be the reduction of the requirement of permanent address.

Millions of connections likely to be given
Under the second change, after a limited period, the beneficiaries will get the option to continue or return the connection. Both these changes are being made keeping in view the need of workers working in remote areas. Under this, one crore connections are expected to be given.

Till January 31, 2021, 8.3 crore families living below the poverty line in the country were provided cooking gas under the Ujjwala connection.
