Transport Department issued new guideline: These vehicles will not be able to run in Delhi till December 9, the government imposed a ban

The Delhi government has decided to allow BS-III petrol and BS-IV diesel four-wheelers to ply on the city roads till December 9 in view of the restrictions imposed by the Center’s Air Quality Committee under the third phase of the Phased Response Action Plan (GRP). Banned on Monday.



New Delhi: The Delhi government has allowed BS-III petrol and BS-IV diesel four-wheelers to ply on the city roads till December 9 in view of the restrictions imposed by the Center’s Air Quality Committee under the third phase of the Phased Response Action Plan (GRP). Running is banned on Mondays.

Sub-committee to review on Thursday
The sub-committee for implementation of GRAP held a meeting on Sunday to review the air quality scenario in the region as well as the meteorological conditions and forecast of Delhi’s air quality index.

Transport Department issued order
According to an order issued by the Transport Department, ‘As per the directions provided in the third phase of the revised GRAP and under Section 115 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, it is ordered that in the National Capital Territory of Delhi, with immediate effect from 9 December There will be restrictions on the running of BS-3 petrol and BS-4 diesel LMV (four wheeler) vehicles till or till the stage of GRAP is amended.

Exemption for vehicles engaged in emergency services
Vehicles engaged in emergency services and government or election work will be exempted. The order states, “If any BS-3 petrol and BS-4 diesel LMV four wheeler is found plying on the roads, a fine of Rs 20,000 will be imposed under section 194 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988.”

The pollution level in Delhi has reached the ‘severe’ category since November 4. The AQI was 447 on November 4.
