Highway Safety Warning: Driving in Dense Fog

Given the spike in fog-related accidents, police and authorities are urging motorists to follow strict safety protocols:

  • Reduce Speed: Drive at a speed of 30 kmph or below in dense fog. Reduce speed to match your visibility.

  • Use Proper Lights: Use low-beam headlights and fog lights (if available). Never use high beams, as they reflect off the fog and worsen visibility.

  • Maintain Distance: Maintain a safe distance from the vehicle ahead. Fog dramatically increases the required braking distance.

  • Do Not Stop: Avoid stopping on the highway except at designated areas. If you must stop, pull over as far off the road as possible and turn on your hazard lights.
