IT Companies on Moonlighting: Moonlighting has become a very popular term in IT these days. Every common and special is joining this discussion. Senior executives including CEOs of big IT companies have joined the debate. Veteran officers of IT companies are telling it wrong. However, CP Gurnani, Chief Executive Officer of Tech Mahindra, has a different opinion on this. He says that if an employee does some other work after the company’s fixed working hours, then he is free for him. It’s a matter of his personal life, what does he do?

TCS
Country’s largest IT company Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) does not allow employees to work other than jobs. If an employee wants to do so, he has to take written approval for this. The company’s CEO Ganapathy Subramaniam says that the person doing moonlighting gets immediate benefits but it gives loss in the long run.

Infosys
Infosys is also strictly against moonlighting. The terms of the company clearly state that ‘You agree that you will not engage in any full time or part time job without the consent of Infosys’. The company’s former director Mohandas Pai believes Moonlighting to be correct. He says that what someone does after office timings, it is his choice.

Wipro
It is clearly written in Wipro’s letter that the employees will have to work solely for the company. For any other work, the employee will have to take permission from the business unit head. The executive chairman of Wipro called it wrong and termed it as cheating with the company.

Tech Mahindra
It is written in the agreement of Tech Mahindra, if you take up any work without the approval of the company, then you may be fired without giving any reason. However, the company’s Chief Executive Officer CP Gurnani has a different opinion in this matter. He says that if the employee has completed his part of the work, then he can do another work again.

HCL Tech
It has been written in the contract of HCL Technology that no employee of the company can do any other work for any other company. Even if the company is not from another sector. HCN has called it a mandatory condition of the job and doing so is a violation of the conditions of the job.
