Apple’s entire focus is on India, it wants to increase manufacturing in the country. To take advantage of this, Tata Group is planning to set up a new iPhone assembly plant in India. This will be one of the largest plants in India. According to Bloomberg report, Tata Group wants to set up an assembly plant in Hosul, Tamil Nadu. According to the report, the plant will have about 20 assembly lines and will create 50 thousand jobs within 2 years. The target is to make the site operational in 12 to 18 months.

Apple will benefit if the plant is built because it will localize the supply chain and strengthen its partnership with Tata. Let us tell you, Apple’s iPhone factory is already in Karnataka, which has been purchased by Tata.

Will be one of the biggest plants

Apart from China, Apple is planning to increase its production in India, Thailand, Malaysia and other countries. It is doing this to reduce its dependence on China and diversify its supply chain. The iPhone assembly plant proposed by Tata Group will be of medium size. It will be bigger than the plant bought by Tata from Wistron, which employs more than 10,000 employees. But it will be smaller than China’s iPhone factories.

Hiring increased in existing plant in Hosur

Tata Group is taking several steps to expand its business with Apple. One of these steps is to increase hiring at the existing facility in Hosur, where it produces iPhone enclosures. Another step by Tata Group is to launch 100 retail stores focused on Apple products. Tata Group will get revenue from the sale of Apple products from these stores.
