Stock Markets Today: Sensex, Nifty end week on a high; Bajaj Finance, Power Grid among top gainers

Stock markets on Friday ended in the green ending the week on a high. The markets carried the Thursday momentum even today and ended almost 1.5 per cent up from the last close. While the Sensex was trading at 34731.73, up by almost 523 points at the close, the broader market Nifty 50 traded at 10244.40, up by over 152 points from the previous close

Stock markets on Friday ended in the green ending the week on a high. The markets carried the Thursday momentum even today and ended almost 1.5 per cent up from the last close. While the Sensex was trading at 34731.73, up by almost 523 points at the close, the broader market Nifty 50 traded at 10244.40, up by over 152 points from the previous close.

In the 30 share BSE Sensex, 19 traded in green at the day’s end while the remaining 11 were trading in the red. The top gainers on Friday at the time of closing were Bajaj Finance, Reliance Industries, Power Grid, ICICI Bank and Maruti Suzuki. The top losers were Indusind Bank, ITC, Mahindra & Mahindra, HCL Technologies and HDFC.



Meanwhile, Bajaj Finserv, Bajaj Finance, Reliance Industries, Tata Motors and Bharti Infratel were the top gainers on Nifty Fifty on Friday in the closing trade. The top losers were Indusind Bank, Mahindra & Mahindra, Vedanta Limited, HCL Technologies and ITC.

On Thursday, Sensex ended at 34,208.05, up by over 2 per cent while the Nifty 50 closed at 10,091.65, also up by 2 per cent.



Today, the rupee was trading at around 76.2175 against the USD at 3:45 pm.

Asian stocks were set for gains on Friday although trade was likely to be choppy after a mixed Wall Street session with investor focus swinging between concerns about a second pandemic wave and more upbeat hopes about an economic recovery. Australian S&P/ASX 200 rose 0.5 per cent, while Japan`s Nikkei was up 0.7 per cent. South Korea`s KOSPI rose 0.3 per cent. Hong Kong`s Hang Seng index futures were mostly unchanged. MSCI`s gauge of stocks across the globe shed 0.08 per cent while emerging market stocks rose 0.06 per cent.

On Wall Street, The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.15 per cent, but the S&P 500 added 0.06 per cent.
