Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana: The government has started Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana for the development of daughters. In this scheme, compounding interest of 8 percent is given by the government. To avail the benefits of this scheme, you can open an account by going to post office or bank. Let us know how you can check the balance in your account.


To secure the future of daughters and keeping in mind their education, the government has started Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana. Guaranteed interest is available on the amount invested in this scheme.

Here the government gives compounding interest. In this scheme, parents or guardian can open an account in the name of a girl child below 10 years of age.

This account matures after 21 years. Whereas, in this one has to invest only for 15 years. At present the government gives 8 percent interest in this scheme. In this scheme you can invest a minimum of Rs 250 while you can invest Rs 1.5 lakh annually.

How to apply

  • If you also want to take advantage of this scheme, then you will have to download the application form of Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana from the post office or bank website.
  • After filling this form, you will have to attach your photo, child’s birth certificate, parents’ ID proof and other documents.
  • After this, submit the form along with the documents to the nearest bank or post office.
  • After checking the form and original documents, the employee will open the account in the name of the girl child.
  • After this you can invest in the girl’s account.

Check bank statement like this

  • To check the balance of Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana online, you will have to avail the facility of net banking.
  • You have to log in by entering your Username and Password.
  • After this, you will see the numbers of all the accounts on the dashboard.
  • Now select the option of Account Statement showing on the left side of the screen.
  • After this, click on Sukanya account number from the list of all accounts.
  • Now your balance will be shown on the screen.

These Sukanya accounts will be closed on 31st March

If the minimum investment amount is not deposited in the Sukanya account within a year, the account may be frozen. By March 31, all the accounts in which the minimum amount is not deposited annually will become inactive. To reactivate the account, a penalty will have to be paid.
