Health is a vital part of people’s lives. Especially as people age, access to quality healthcare is crucial for their senior years. To address this, the Ayushman Vay Vandan Yojana (Ayushman Vay Vandan Yojana) is being implemented in India.

In addition to Ayushman Vaya Vandan, the government has launched several other schemes for senior citizens that provide free or low-cost treatment, including hospitalization, medication, and coverage for critical illnesses.

The National Senior Citizen Mediclaim Policy provides senior citizens with a sum insured of up to ₹10 lakh. It can be purchased by individuals between the ages of 60 and 80. The plan also provides coverage for a spouse or partner based on a family floater plan.

Additionally, the National Senior Citizens Mediclaim Policy (SCHIS) provides medical coverage for individuals aged 60-80. The policy is valid for one year, but can be renewed up to age 90. It includes coverage for organ transplantation, hospitalization coverage of up to 1 lakh, and critical illness coverage of up to 2 lakh.

The Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) is a health insurance scheme for central and former central government employees. Those eligible for this scheme include railway employees, judges, Delhi Police personnel, members of Parliament, and freedom fighters.

The CGHS scheme covers hospital expenses, AYUSH treatments, home treatment, and consultation fees. This scheme provides timely and effective treatment to the elderly. It also reduces financial burden.

To take advantage of these schemes, necessary documents such as Aadhaar card, age proof, and pension card must be ready. With these documents, the elderly can easily access hospital treatment and avail of free services.
