Cold Wave Closures: School Holidays Announced
Jammu & Kashmir: Longest Break Confirmed
The Jammu and Kashmir administration announced the schedule. It is the longest break in India.

Pre-Primary to Class 8 (Winter Zone): Classes stopped earlier. The closure continues until February 28, 2026. Schools reopen March 1.

Senior Classes (9 to 12): Their holidays begin on December 11, 2025. They continue until February 22, 2026.

Current Closure: Mountain regions of Jammu and Kashmir have already closed their schools from December 8 to 14 due to cold and fog.
Rajasthan: Fixed Christmas Break
Rajasthan announced its winter vacation. It applies to all government and private schools.

Madhya Pradesh: Christmas and New Year Break
Madhya Pradesh keeps its Christmas holiday separate from the main winter vacation.

Other States: What We Know
Many states wait for the worst cold before announcing full winter closures. However, we have strong patterns for Delhi and UP:

Uttar Pradesh (UP): UP schools usually observe a 12-day winter break. It typically starts around December 20, 2025, and runs until December 31, 2025. Local authorities can extend this break if the cold gets severe. Also, all government schools and institutions close on December 27 for Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s birth anniversary.

Delhi: Delhi generally does not have a long break in December. The full winter vacation is scheduled from January 1 to January 15, 2026. Authorities may close schools earlier due to pollution or severe cold.
