SBI Customers: Good news! Now you can stop your cheque payment, just followed these easy steps

New Delhi. If you are a customer of State Bank of India (SBI), then this news is of your use. This news is related to stopping the payment of cheque. Many times it happens that after issuing a check to people, you want to stop that payment. There can be many reasons behind stopping the payment.


Till now people understand that once the check is issued, it is not easy to stop the payment, but this is wrong. You do not even need to go to the bank to stop the payment of the cheque. You can stop payment by following some easy steps sitting at home. But to do this it is necessary that you should have the facility of Netbanking of the bank.

Stop check payment like this

  1. First of all log in to your SBI Internet Banking.
  2. Now go to the Request and enquiries section on the homepage and scroll down on the same and click on stop check payment.
  3. Now select the account number of the account whose check or checkbook was there.
  4. If you have only one account then it will appear already selected. If you want to stop only one check, then enter the number of that check in the Start Check Number box that appears and then enter the same check number in the End Check Number also.
  5. If you want to stop the entire check book, then in the Start Check Number box, enter the number of the first check of the check book and in the End Check Number, enter the number of the last check.
  6. Even if you do not remember these two numbers, then there is no need to worry. You go to the Quick Links on the left and go to the check book request and go to the History tab. There you will get the details of the checkbooks that have been issued to you.
  7. If a check is lost, then after entering both the numbers (start check number and end check number), select the type of check by going to the select instrument type. In the stop reason below, you have to select one of the few regions given there.
  8. Now below are the term and condition (you can read it to get information) by ticking its box.
  9. Here you will also see the charges for stop payment. After ticking the term and condition, click on the submit button.
  10. On clicking, you will see the details you have given.
  11. Now verify them and click on Confirm. By doing this the request you made gets accepted.
  12. You will be able to see the details of the check for which the request was made by clicking on view stop check. Note here that the details of only those checks whose payment stop you have stopped online will be shown here.
