SBI credit card: SBI credit card found it difficult to hand over the bill to one of its customers on an expired card. The court has given a decision to pay a fine of two lakh rupees to SBI.

SBI credit card: The demand and usage of credit cards in the country is increasing rapidly. Like before, people now feel more comfortable using credit cards instead of debit cards, as it offers cashback and reward points along with payments. If you also use a credit card, then you should know about the rules related to it. Due to lack of information, many times customers suffer huge losses. On the other hand, if there is correct information then it is also beneficial.

Something similar happened with a customer from Delhi. A consumer court in Delhi has directed SBI Cards and Payment Services to pay Rs 2 lakh for sending a bill to a consumer despite the credit card being expired. The New Delhi Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum has directed a credit card issuer to pay former journalist MJ Anthony for deficiency in service. Anthony had complained against SBI Cards and Payment. Let’s know what is the whole matter.

Blacklisted for non-payment of fees

Anthony had said that even after the credit card expired, he was billed and blacklisted for not paying the fee. The consumer forum said that knowing the name of the complainant in the Cibil Score, the other bank also rejected his application for issuing a credit card. The consumer forum, headed by Monika A Srivastava, said that the loss caused by failure to provide service to the complainant and damage to credit rating cannot be compensated in money but punitive action was necessary against the credit card issuer. That is why SBI Cards has been asked to pay a compensation of two lakh rupees within two months.

What to do if this happens to you too

If this ever happens to a customer, he can complain to the concerned bank, RBI or consumer court. First of all, you go to your bank and complain about this matter. For this, you can register a complaint by calling the bank’s customer service number or by visiting the bank’s branch. If there is no solution from the bank, then you can register a case with RBI. You can register a complaint about this matter to RBI through e-mail or phone call. By the way, this will solve your problem, if not, then you have the last option of consumer court, where you can file a complaint and start a legal case against that bank.
