Service will not be available due to maintenance
The bank said on its official social media platform X (formerly called Twitter) that this service will be closed due to technical improvements and maintenance. The maintenance time will be from 1:00 am to 1:20 am on August 6, i.e. about 20 minutes. That is, customers will not be able to do UPI transactions for just 20 minutes.
Those doing transactions may face problems
During this time, no UPI transaction will be possible. That is, if you want to send money to someone, make online purchases or pay bills, then it will not happen. Therefore, it would be wise to settle the necessary payments in advance.
SBI said this to the customers
The bank has advised that customers can use UPI Lite service during this period. This is an optional service. Which is used in small transactions. In this, money is deducted directly from your wallet. Therefore, verification from the bank is not required.
When does UPI Lite come in handy?
You can use UPI Lite when you have to pay for tea, coffee, groceries or bus or auto fare. This facility has been specially designed for small amount payments and transactions are done very fast in it.
Limit was changed
In December 2024, the Reserve Bank increased the limit of UPI Lite. Now you can make a payment of up to Rs 1,000 through UPI Lite at one time. At the same time, the maximum amount in the entire wallet has been kept up to Rs 5,000. Earlier this limit was Rs 500 and Rs 2,000.
Finish important work beforehand
If you have any important digital payment, then do it before 1:00 am on August 6. Although this interruption is only for 20 minutes, but there may be trouble if there is a sudden need.
