SBI Alert: In today’s time every person uses debit card of some or the other bank. But many times it gets lost or stolen, in such a situation it is necessary to block it as soon as possible. Today we are telling you 4 ways to block SBI Debit Card.


If you are also an SBI customer and your debit card is lost or stolen, then it is necessary to block it as soon as possible. Many times the transaction is done without the card even when the card is with you, then even in such a situation the card should be blocked immediately (Debit Card lock). The country’s largest bank SBI has released a video on its Twitter handle for its 44 crore customers. In which the complete process of blocking the card has been told step by step.

There are 4 ways for you to block your SBI Debit Card. Come, know about them here.

1. Call toll free number

The fastest way to block your SBI Debit Card is to call the bank’s toll free number 1800 11 2211 or 1800 425 3800. You will be given some instructions on the toll free number. By following these you can block the card.

2. Through Net Banking

>> Log in to www.onlinesbi.com with your username and password.
>> In the ‘e-Services’ tab, under ‘ATM Card Services’, select ‘Block ATM Card’.
>> Select the account which is linked with the Debit Card.
>> All active and blocked cards will be shown. You will see the first 4 and last 4 digits of the card.
>> Select the reason for blocking the card along with the card you want to block. Reason can be selected from dropdown menu. Then click on ‘Submit’.
>> Verify and confirm the details. Once the card is blocked, there is no option to unblock it through internet facility.
>> Select the method of authentication. It can be OTP or profile password via SMS.
>> Enter OTP/Profile Password in the required box. After that click on ‘Confirm’.
>> On successful blocking of the card, a message will appear with the ticket number. Keep it for future reference.

3. Block SMS sending

You can also block your ATM card by sending SMS. To block your ATM card, you have to send BLOCK XXXX to 567676. Here XXXX is the last 4 digits of the debit card number. SMS should be sent from the mobile number registered in the bank account. A confirmation SMS will be sent to you on receipt of the SMS by the bank. The SMS alert will include the ticket number, date and time of blocking.

4. Visit the bank branch

One can request the bank official to block his/her debit card by visiting the nearest branch.
