Salary Hike: SpiceJet hikes salary of pilots, will get double salary from November, know details

New Delhi. SpiceJet has given a bumper gift to its pilots ahead of Diwali. The airline has announced to double the monthly salary of the pilots while making changes in the salary structure. Let us inform that SpiceJet has increased its monthly remuneration by about 55 percent to Rs 7 lakh for 80 hours of flight. The hike in salary will be implemented from November 1. After the latest hike, the salary of a Captain in SpiceJet will be higher as compared to his pre-Covid salary.

The salary of Trainer and Senior First Officer has also been increased “proportionately”. Earlier, SpiceJet employees had claimed that there was a delay in disbursement of salaries of employees including flight crew for the month of July and many were yet to receive Form 16 for the financial year 2021-22 as well.

Continuously increasing salary
SpiceJet said that it is continuously increasing the basic pay of pilots. Compared to August, the salary for September was increased by 10 percent for trainers and 8 percent for captains and first officers. There has been a further increase of 22 percent in the salary of Captains and First Officers from October. According to the information, the airline has received the first installment of funds under the loan guarantee scheme from the government, after which it has decided to increase the salary of a class of its pilots.

80 members sent on leave
The airline sent 80 crew members on leave without pay for the next three months in September. Apart from this, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has extended the restriction of 50 percent flights on SpiceJet till 29 October. Airline sources had said on September 2 that the airline was likely to receive around Rs 225 crore under the government’s Emergency Credit Facility Guarantee Scheme (ECLGS).

SpiceJet’s head of flight operations Captain Gurcharan Arora said in the information that the airline has got approval for loan under the ECLGS scheme of the central government. Its first installment has been received. However, he did not mention the amount received in the first installment.
