This decision has been taken in view of the competition from other companies in the sector. It is worth noting that this will be the first salary hike after the acquisition of Air India by the Tata group.

How much will be the increase in salary

According to the report published in Live Mint, Tata Group is planning to increase the salary of its pilots, cabin crew, ground staff and all other employees by 8 to 10 percent in view of the competition from other airlines. According to the report, the decision on salary hike will be taken in the next few months. In the first phase, the salary increase of the pilots will be announced. After this, the salary of the cabin crew and other officers will also be increased.

What is the reason behind the increase in salary?

The Tata Group has decided to increase the salary of its employees because the airlines are already facing a shortage of pilots. In such a situation, the company wants to make such a strategy that it can meet the shortage of other staff including the pilot. Along with this, he could prevent his pilots and staff from joining other domestic or international airlines due to low salary.

Giving information in this matter, an official of the company said that we have a challenge to meet the pilot shortage. Recently, Air India has ordered new aircraft on a large scale. In such a situation, apart from retaining the old pilots with the company, Air India also faces a big challenge of recruiting new pilots.

The company will recruit pilots and cabin crew on a large scale

In February 2023, Air India had announced that it is going to recruit 4,200 cabin crew staff and 900 pilots in the next few years. This decision was taken after ordering 470 new aircraft. Let us tell you that at the beginning of the year, Air India has ordered a total of 470 aircraft to Boeing and Airbus.

Significantly, this is the biggest order of the aviation industry so far. Along with this, Air India has kept an option to buy 370 more aircraft. It is worth noting that Vistara will not get the benefit of the increase in the salary of Air India employees.
