There are 20 days left to end on 30th September. In these remaining 20 days, banks will also remain closed due to their weekly holidays and festivals. In such a situation, it would be right to check the holiday list in banks and exchange your Rs 2,000 notes as soon as possible.

Get Rs 2,000 notes changed soon

RBI had said that Rs 2000 notes will remain valid till September 30. That means, there is only time till 30th September to use these notes. It would be better if people exchange Rs 2,000 notes on time keeping in mind the

bank holidays in September. Rs 2000 notes were introduced into circulation in November 2016. Then during demonetization, old notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 were stopped, after which the government issued notes of Rs 2000 to meet the need of currency in the economy.

  • 18 September 2023: Monday, Varasiddhi Vinayak Vrat and Vinayak Chaturthi
  • 19 September 2023: Tuesday, Ganesh Chaturthi
  • September 20, 2023: Wednesday, Ganesh Chaturthi (2nd day) and Nuakhai (Odisha).
  • September 22, 2023: Friday, Shri Narayana Guru Samadhi Day.
  • September 23, 2023: Fourth Saturday and birthday of Maharaja Hari Singh (Jammu and Kashmir).
  • 24 September 2023: Sunday
  • 25 September 2023: Monday, birth anniversary of Srimanta Sankardev
  • September 27, 2023: Wednesday, Milad-e-Sherif (Birthday of Prophet Mohammad).
  • September 28, 2023: Thursday, Eid-e-Milad or Eid-e-Miladunnabi (Bara Wafat)
  • September 29, 2023: Friday, Indrajatra and Friday after Eid-e-Milad-ul-Nabi (Jammu and Kashmir)

How and where to exchange Rs 2000 notes?

People can deposit or exchange ₹2,000 notes in their respective bank accounts till September 30. This facility is available in the branches of RBI and all other banks across the country from May 23. According to RBI, there should not be any problem in the operation of the bank branch. ₹2,000 notes can be exchanged up to ₹20,000 to minimize disruption in regular functioning of bank branches.

RBI has advised to exchange the withdrawn notes by the end of September. KYC norms and other legal processes will be required to credit the demonetised ₹2,000 notes into your bank account.
