Now the process of filing returns has also been made easier than before by the Income Tax Department. So you can easily revise ITR to avoid any inconvenience. For this, you can take the help of the official website of Income Tax Department while sitting at home. Let us understand the whole process.

Follow these steps

1. First of all visit the official website of Income Tax https://www.incometax.gov.in/iec/foportal/.
2. After this you have to click on the option of e-file menu and click on the rectification link.
3. Here you have to select the assessment year from the drop down menu from the option ‘Order / Intimation to be rectified’.
4. Now a drop down menu will open in front of you. Here you can select the reason for your rectification. For example, there is a tax credit mismatch or whatever is the reason, select it.

5. After filling the updated information here, click on the submit button.
6. Now if this request has been submitted then you will be shown the success message. The mail related to this will also be received on your mail id.

How to check request status

If you have revised ITR, then you can easily see its status also. For this you have to visit the official website of Income Tax Department https://www.incometax.gov.in/iec/foportal/ . After this you will see the option of ‘View e-Filed Returns/Forms’ in the My Account menu here. Here select the Rectification Request option from the dropdown list and then submit it. After this you will see the status of your request. About 5.83 crore ITRs were filed till July 31, 2022, out of which 72.42 lakh returns were filed on the last day.
