New Delhi. The Finance Ministry on Sunday extended the last date to take advantage of the scheme to waive GST by three months to 30 November. Earlier this date was 31st August. Under the scheme, taxpayers will have to pay a reduced fee for delay in filing monthly returns.


The decision to bring the waiver scheme was taken in May.

The GST Council, headed by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, in May decided to bring an amnesty scheme to provide relief in late fees to taxpayers for pending returns. The finance ministers of all the states are members of the GST Council.

Late fee limited

to Rs 500 per return in case of no tax liability Is. Whereas for those with tax liability, a maximum late fee of Rs 1,000 per return will be charged, provided such returns are filed by August 31, 2021.


“The last date for availing the benefit of Late Fee Waiver Scheme has now been extended to November 30, 2021 from the existing August 31, 2021,” the ministry said in a statement.
