As important as it is to follow the traffic rules on the road, it is equally important that you have the RC with you. While driving on the road, it is important that you always have the RC with you in physical or digital format.
Many times it happens that the RC of the vehicle is lost or is left somewhere by mistake. In such a situation, there is no need to panic, because you can download it very easily online. The government has given two options for this – first Vahan portal and DigiLocker app.
What is RC and why is it necessary?
RC is a document issued by the Regional Transport Office (RTO). It contains information like vehicle registration number, engine and chassis number, name, address etc. of the vehicle owner. This document is necessary on many occasions like bank loan, insurance, sale or traffic checking on the road.
Now RC can also be viewed and used in digital form. The traffic police legally accepts digital RC downloaded from government apps like DigiLocker and mParivahan.

Keep these things in mind
The digital RC is completely valid, but sometimes there may be problems in access due to technical reasons, so it is also beneficial to keep a physical copy. It is important to keep the RC safe and updated, as it is the biggest proof of your vehicle’s identity and ownership. In this way, you can get your RC again in a few minutes sitting at home without the help of any agent or broker.
