Rapid Rail: After three weeks, the country’s first rapid rail with facilities like airplane will start running from Sahibabad in Ghaziabad to Duhai Depot. Rapid train is to be operated between Delhi to Meerut in the year 2025. This entire railway corridor is to be completed in three sections.
Its first phase is 17 km long between Sahibabad to Duhai Depot. According to the news of the news agency IANS, the rapid rail on this route is to be started for travel from next month. The work of making track on this section has been completed and now the work of installation of overhead equipment line is also almost complete.
From next month, it will start running at a speed of 180 kmph for passengers (Delhi-NCR) between Duhai Depot and Sahibabad. There will be 5 stations (Rapid Rail Stations) on this route, in which Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Guldhar, Duhai and Duhai Depot are there. During this journey, passengers will also be able to buy tickets here through mobile and card.
These facilities will be available in Rapid Rail
According to the news, the special thing is that a stretcher has been arranged in the last compartment of the rail coach. If a patient is referred from Meerut to Delhi, then a separate coach is arranged for this, so that the patient can be transported at a lower cost.
With this, separate coaches have been arranged for women. Apart from this, separate seats have been prepared for the disabled, which can be folded in case of non-use. Although the train travel time will be only 55 minutes, the seats have been made extremely comfortable. There is an adjustable chair in the train, along with this, special arrangements have also been made for the standing passengers.
All facilities like Wi-Fi facility, mobile-USB charger, large windows, integrated AC system, automatic door control system, luggage storage, driver interaction system, dynamic route map, infotainment system etc. in the train will provide rapid rail to the passengers. All hi-tech features like CCTV, automating doors are present in the rapid rail.
Second phase of Rapid Rail from Sahibabad to Meerut
And the second phase will be from Sahibabad to Meerut. This phase will be completed by March 2024. After this, the last phase will be from Modipuram in Meerut to Sarai Kale Khan in Delhi. The work of this phase will start by 2025.
There is a provision for parking 13 trains in Duhai yard, so preparations are being made to operate only 13 rapid trains in the first phase, while after the construction of the entire route between Delhi and Meerut, a total of 30 rapid trains are being prepared. .
Operation and Command Control Center of Rapid Rail Corridor is being prepared in Duhai Yard of Ghaziabad. With the first phase starting in a few weeks, the operation and control of all rapid trains running on the entire route will be commanded from this operations center.
Actually, the objective of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor project is to reduce the congestion of the National Capital Region. Apart from this, there is a need to curb vehicular traffic and air pollution and ensure balanced regional development.
RRTS is a Rs 30,274 crore joint venture between the Center and the Uttar Pradesh government.

The construction work is in advanced stage. Kovid-19 had put a brake on all the activities. Due to this, the work of Rapid Rail was also affected, but it will be ready for the passengers on time.
24 stations will be built along the entire corridor
The UP government had allocated Rs 1,326 crore for the project in the current financial year. According to the RRTS project, 24 stations will be built along the entire corridor. Vinay Kumar Singh said, our target is that in 2025 the passengers of Delhi will be able to reach Meerut in one hour by Rapid Rail ROUTES. We estimate that in 2025, 8 lakh passengers will travel daily on Rapid Rail.
According to DPR estimates, the train fare will be around Rs 2 per kilometer. The private agency will not have the right to increase the fare later. Like Metro, the fare will be decided by the committee, which is formed under the chairmanship of the judge. There will be connectivity of Rapid Line on seven lines of Delhi Metro, it will be connected to Munirka, INA and Aerocity.
According to RRTS, approval has been received from Haryana and Delhi government for the 106 km route from Sarai Kale Khan to SNB for the rapid rail to be built from Sarai Kale Khan to Alwar. It is expected that soon the central government will also approve it. At present, the pre-construction work is going on for this, so that after getting the approval, the construction work can be started as soon as possible.
