Cyclone Michaung: The Meteorological Department has issued an alert in northern coastal Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal with warning of heavy rainfall on December 3 and December 4. Due to the cyclonic storm ‘Michong’ forming over the Bay of Bengal, there is a possibility of wind speed of 100 kilometers per hour on December 4. This storm is likely to hit between Nellore and Machilipatnam. For this reason, red alert has been issued in Tiruvallur district for Monday. Due to this, in view of cyclone ‘Maichong’, holiday has been declared in all the colleges of Puducherry, Karaikal and Yanam region on 4th December.

Many trains canceled due to cyclone Maichaung

Due to cyclonic storm ‘Maichong’, Railways has canceled many trains. Railways said in its tweet that train services will remain canceled due to the storm. In view of the upcoming cyclone ‘Maichong’ in the coastal region of Andhra Pradesh, train services are being canceled keeping safety in mind. According to the spokesperson of North Western Railway, in view of the upcoming cyclone ‘Maichong’, the following train services operating on North Western Railway are being cancelled.

1. Train number 12968, Jaipur – Chennai Express train service will remain canceled on 03.12.23.
2. Train number 12967, Chennai – Jaipur Express train service will remain canceled on 05.12.23.
3. Train number 22674, Mannargudi – Bhagat Ki Kothi Express train service will remain canceled on 04.12.23.
4. Train number 22673, Bhagat Ki Kothi – Mannargudi Express train service will remain canceled on 07.12.23.

Schools will remain closed in these places

All schools will remain closed in view of the storm. Official sources said this is part of the precautionary measures taken by the government. The administration has taken all necessary steps in view of the IMD’s prediction. The deep depression over the southwest Bay of Bengal will turn into a cyclonic storm in the next 24 hours and will cross the south Andhra Pradesh coast between Nellore and. India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that the maximum speed of the cyclonic storm touching Machilipatnam is likely to be between 80-90 km per hour to 100 km per hour. The impact of the cyclone will be visible in seven out of 25 divisions of the district.

Fishermen were forbidden from going to the sea shore

Following the IMD advisory, fishermen in 63 villages have been asked not to venture into the sea, river or backwaters for six days from December 1 to 6, and farmers have been asked to harvest mature crops immediately. Paddy has been grown in 3.74 lakh acres in the district and most of it is in the harvesting stage. IMD has prepared control centers in schools and for people to stay. The administration has also stocked food packets, water, medicines and provisions in case the situation worsens.
